Thomas Paine wrote in The American Crisis, #1, (12.23.1776) that "Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph." And Thomas Jefferson, in a letter (6.4.1798), wrote, "A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles."
